The Advanced Access Content System is the group responsible for “managing content stored on the next generation of pre-recorded and recorded optical media” which roughly translates that they security protect a range of new media like Blu-Ray and HD (High Density) discs.

Derek Powazek one of the founders of JPG magazine recently posted an article on his website detailing the resons for his recent departure from the publication. Derek and his wife Heather Champ started the magazine as a small labour of love and it quickly grew into something much larger. The reaction to Derek’s post has been quick and intense with a swell of support and sympathy all of which may well be deserved however there’s been virtually no response from the other party involved in the matter - Paul Cloutier ; save a brief post by his wife.

Back in October of 2004, Julie Amero, a substitute teacher in a Connecticut middle school found herself in a bit of a bother. Well, actually that’s all it should have been but it led to Amero facing a 40 year prison sentence and the case has highlighted the intense neo-luditism that continues to prevail in not only the US justice system but justice systems the world wide.
